Unreported world

These are a few topics  of the Unreported world series……Just read..

Killing of Kashmir"More than 60,000 people, mostly innocent civilians, have died in the 15-year conflict. Half a million Indian troops are stationed in Kashmir, fighting Pakistani-funded militants who slip across the border to attack the troops but also to terrorise the local population into giving them shelter and assistance. While both governments talk of peace, Unreported World reveals that, on the ground, very little has changed. For the local villagers life is a cycle of militant violence and government repression. "

NIGERIA: FIRE IN THE DELTA Its Home to one of the richest oil fields in the world, but its people are living in extreme poverty and a polluted environment, caught in the crossfire between armed gangs sabotaging the oil production and harsh reprisals from security forces.

WEST PAPUA: RAINFOREST WARRIORS Unreported World travelled to one of the remotest places on earth, where journalists are forbidden to work and usually arrested when they arrive, and where a bloody conflict between government forces and locals is rarely glimpsed by the outside world.

SOUTH AFRICA: THE NEW APARTHEID The series began in South Africa where a huge rise in illegal immigration from Zimbabwe and other African states is behind an increase in racism and xenophobic violence.

Guatamala City  Areas of Guatemala City have degenerated into violent lawlessness in a three-way battle between gangs, vigilante groups and the security forces, and where disappearances, torture and bloody death have become a daily occurrence

These  are just a few  notes  of Unreported world…

We dont  see this on tv news

We dont see this in the CNN Breaking news

We dont read abt it in ournewspaper..

But ppl suffer  …

The world fights with itself in more ways than one. It’s time to "Heal the world" like the Michael Jackson song goes – http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=heal+the+world+michael+jackson+superbowl+video&form=QBRE

For those who want to have a romanticised glimpse of the terrorism in Kashmir catch the movie "Roja" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roja directed by Maniratnam. This film’s score and soundtrack were composed by A. R. Rahman, who debuted in this movie.

    Hi sweeti
We cannot carry the world’s burden on our shoulders. Faith and strength are all we have to offer, when we witness such kinds of suffering and find ourselves helpless. I think you know this prayer well, but I will just put it here for it gives me strength, and a kind of knowing, that in the grand scheme of things, we shall overcome.

“ Lord, make me an instrument of Your Peace.   Where there is hatred, let me sow love;   Where there is injury, pardon;   Where there is doubt, faith;   Where there is despair, hope;   Where there is darkness, light;   And where there is sadness, joy.   O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek   To be consoled as to console;   To be understood as to understand;   To be loved as to love;   For it is in giving that we receive;   It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;   And it is in my dying that we are born to eternal light. ”                                (The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi)

Be well, marijke, and may you find peace in this prayer.
    Billy

Hey Sweeti! Yes, so many things are happening around us which we don’t know of. We live in a very violent world. Maybe it is better we don’t get to know of many things…it can get very depressing. Yesterday I was watching a reality TV show, about a missing girl aged 26 years, and how her Mom carried out a four year search for her. Later, her body, with several other girls’ corpses was found in the house of a serial killer. The incident happened in Vancouver, Canada. Goodness knows how many more crimes are happening that go unnoticed and unattended.      But, as Happy Billy says, we all have to keep believing in a God, in all things rare and beautiful, and make room for peace on earth. If not, all hope for better times to come will be lost.Bye for now, and sweet dreams!Love, Ruma.

    Hello Sweeti,

I agree. Our blogs would fit together nicely. Life continues on and sometimes people don’t understand or don’t want to understand what is being said to them. I have heard of cases where a person was told about something and did nothing. They just couldn’t understand. Then there asre those who are blessed with the gift of being able to understand and they take action. I feel sorry for those who can understand and do nothing. They are the lowest by far. The war in Iraq & Afghanistan is but a piece in the greater puzzle of all the other unreported wars going on. Wars will NEVER end! They will get worse and the more people who try to eliinate war the more there will be. It is so written in all the Holy Books in the world. No place is safe from war. Glasgow, Scotland is a proven case in point this week with the bombing of the main airport terminal.

There are areas in Mexico where a tourist dare not travel, even by car. Bandits lurk in the mountains and will destroy people to get trivial things. It is not that far away from the USA. The question is not if violence starts in the USA but when will it be as horrible as it has been in other countries. England, Scotland, Spain, India, Laos, North & South Korea, and so many other countries have experienced it. The more people try to establish peace, the worse the wars will be.

    Peace & Blessings.

    Hi Sweety,
I must admit that these are topics that shed a light on all the wrong that’s happening the world over in the name of politics and better management of ‘terrorism-inflicted regions’….
I guess, there’s yet another issue that deserves a place there in your list….check it out.

Take good care of yourself….Keep Writing.

  11. Phoenix says:

    Hiya Sweeti,
Sorry I haven’t been in touch for a while, it’s been all go for me. I now have my van and am currently renovating it (she needs alot of tlc!). I quit my job last week so I’m a free man, or as my Mum puts it…a man of leisure! I wish I had the time to lounge around but I’ve got too much to do, I’m sure I’ll have all the time in the world to relax soon though!

I agree with your blog here, the nonsense they choose to put on our news compared to what is really going on in the world is unreal. I’ve been thinking alot more about the war on terror this week due to the recent events in London and Glasgow, so many questions circle round my head but are left unanswered…I don’t think there is an answer to all this to be honest, it’s human nature to wage war, we always have and always will. I know this may sound wrong but I don’t plan to follow world news whilst I’m traveling, it just upsets me too much.

I loved your blog regarding space, I’m a big space fan and spend a lot of time pondering over these questions, I wouldn’t waste too much time thinking about why us humans are here, compared to the big picture, we really mean nothing huh? I hope one day we will answer the big questions concerning space, I don’t believe it will be in my lifetime but who knows?….maybe little green men will visit us and share their knowledge!

I hope life is treating you well, hear from you soon, take care.

Hi Sweeti! Thanks for your kind words…I was terribly upset with the hacking episode yesterday, but since I  have changed my passwords, I am feeling much better. It took quite some time to retrieve my mail and space. You are right….the world is full of sick people who derive pleasure in seeing other people in agony. So, in Belgium too you have trouble makers?? That’s news!Bye for now, and take care! Have a good week.Love, Ruma.

    Hello sweeti,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, we go through stages, and there are unfortunate souls who never get past stage 1 mainly because of their environment, esp when they are in poor countries and struggling for survival, their entire life will be centered around satisfying the lower levels physiological needs such as food, shelter, and basic education. Yes, for them it is possible to find happiness and joy in living at that level.

And there are also those more fortunate ones living in wealthier countries… all their life they only care for themselves, and they almost never get past stage 2.

So, marijke, feel blessed you and I have the good sense to see we need to endure past the lower stages and make our effort to reach for our higher self.

May you continue find love, peace, joy, and growth all through your blessed life.
Be well, be happy, be blessed,
    Billy

    Hello Sweeti,

Thank you for the Fourth of July wishes.

When your friends ask you why you react so strongly to the horrors of the human race, the only answer is, "When I quit reacting to the horrors in a strong manner, I have given up the right to be considered a human." Too many people see the horrors and shrug it off as if it were nothing. The true nature of the human race is no longer in them. Soldiers react in a different manner. Soldiers cannot allow their feelings to show, which is a step away from humanity. I watched a video of a Soldier getting shot and then interviewed afterwards. He related the incident without any emotion – such is the price of war. Maybe those who want war so badly need to be shot as this soldier was. What can you do? You can let people know how you feel, especially those that can’t or won’t understand. A few words of compassion from one person carry more weight than a million bombs.

    Peace, Love, & Blessings.

    Hi!
You are right, some poor people altho they fight to survive just for food, shelter and basic education, they can still achieve 2 things many very wealthy people can only dream about… (1) they can be easily happy and contented… (2) they live a virtuous life free from guilt and bad conscience of sins against their fellow beings.

I never doubted that sometimes, simpler life can be happier life!

    Be well, be blessed.
