Belgium my country

I call it my country  but it isn’t really.  I was born  in the Netherlands as the most of u already know.. By marriage  i  came to Belgium. Well to be accepted in the local village  as a so called miserly  dutch took some years…

Funny though….   when im at home  im still  the dutch  woman.and at office (in the Netherlands)  im the Belgian woman. When its football   Belgium – The Netherlands  i have problems…lol

Now a bit info abt Belgium

Its not that big country only 30.538 square km  In the north  we  have the Netherlands  and on the east side  Germany  and Luxembourg  and in the south   La douce France On the west  side we have  a beautiful seaside.

We have 3 languages  Dutch  in the north  ..German is spoken on the east side  and in the south in the Walloon region french is the language.and  in the capital Brussels  they speak  dutch and French.

Belgium is a constitutional, popular monarchy and a parliamentary democracy.

The coastal plain consists mainly of sand dunes and polders. Further inland lies a smooth, slowly rising landscape irrigated by numerous waterways, with fertile valleys and the northeastern sandy plain of the Campine (Kempen). The thickly forested hills and plateaus of the Ardennes are more rugged and rocky with caves and small gorges, and offer much of Belgium’s wildlife but little agricultural capability. Extending westward into France, this area is eastwardly connected to the Eifel in Germany by the High Fens plateau, on which the Signal de Botrange forms the country’s highest point at 694 metres (2,277 ft)

The climate is maritime temperate, with significant precipitation in all seasons (Köppen climate classification: Cfb). The average temperature is lowest in January at 3 °C (37 °F), and highest in July at 18  °C (64  °F)

World news

Our lil country  was world news  in 1996. Not in a positiv way, but in the worst of the worst. The whole world knew  where Belgium was situated..

Marc Dutroux (born november 6, 1956 in a Belgian serial killer, convicted of having, in 1995 and 1996, kidnapped, tortured and sexually abused six girls, ranging in age from 8 to 19, four of whom he murdered. He was also convicted of having killed a suspected former accomplice, Bernard Weinstein. He was arrested in 1996 and has been in prison ever since. His widely publicised trial took place in 2004. A number of shortcomings in the Dutroux investigation caused widespread discontent in Belgium with the country’s criminal justice system, and the ensuing scandal was one of the reasons for the reorganisation of Belgium’s law enforcement agencies.

    Hello Sweeti,
Very interesting information about Belgium. The European Union has become more than people anticipated. The first step towards the United States joining in has begun. Northrop Aircraft Company & Airbus have joined together to build a new airplane for the military. Global markets can cause problems for countries without a large labour force. Serial killers abound everywhere. Small countries have a better chance of controlling crime than does a large country.
    Peace & Blessings.
