Every 5 seconds

A child dies in this world.
every 5 seconds…..can u imagine???
In Ethiopia  kids die….of hunger
i heard that the country needs agriculture .
But it seems not possible..
we fly to the moon
we make golf courts in the desert of Egypt
Why cant we make Ethiopia  a  garden with food???
This is Egypt       This is Ethiopia

Even kids in wealthy countries can go without food, but starvation anywhere, should not be allowed to happen in this day and age.

  2. Princess says:

Yo Sweeti! I know, it is very sad, that any chidl anywhere should have 2 suffer starvation in this day & age, there must be an answer. Big Hugs, Luv PF XXX

  3. Adrian says:

I can’t even imagine  that.  The answer simply is, because, we don’t care and their is no eceonomic ‘interest’ in Ethiopia. 😦

  4. renay says:

    Hi Sweeti
It’s so very sad and tragic
Ethiopia is also torn apart by war as well as famine
I wonder if the world war care more about the plight of Ethiopia
    if they had oil!
    I sometimes wonder..would I even know the name…Iraq
if that country didn’t have oil!
Sweeti…I’m hoping that you have a good weekend!

Hi sweeti,It feels good to know that still there are people who care for others. Not only Ethiopia but most of the African countries are facing the same problem. There are a number of reasons for this. The main reason is the on going civil war in most of the African countries. Irony is Africa is very rich in its natural resources. But the governments are not efficient. Lets hope for the best.

  7. Jorge says:

Because, unlike you, there are not enough people who care. Be well, and keep raising your voice – eventually, someone hears.

    One day without driving?
Why not take the PLEDGE to not drive October 4, 2008?  Make Saturday, October 4, 2008 a day of rest.  The goal is to get 1 million vehicles off the road on October 4, 2008 and prevent potentially 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in just one day! It’s easy at – http://www.adayofrest.org/pledge.html.

Once upon a time there was an island where all the feelings lived; Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all the others……, including Love. One day it was announced to all of the feelings that the island was going to sink to the bottom of the ocean. So all the feelings prepared their boats to leave. Love was the only one that stayed. She wanted to preserve the island until the last possible moment. When the island was almost totally under, Love decided it was time to leave. She began looking for someone to ask for help. Just then Richness was passing by in a grand boat. Love asked, "Richness, Can I come with you on your boat?" Richness answered, "I’m sorry, but there is a lot of silver and gold on my boat and there would be no room for you." Then Love decided to ask Vanity for help who was passing in a beautiful vessel. Love cried out, "Vanity, help me please." I can’t help you", Vanity said, "You are all wet and will damage my beautiful boat." Next, Love saw Sadness passing by. Love said, "Sadness, please let me go with you." Sadness answered, "Love, I’m sorry, but, I just need to be alone now." Then, Love saw Happiness. Love cried out, "Happiness, please take me with you." But Happiness was so overjoyed that he didn’t hear Love calling to him. Love began to cry. Then, she heard a voice say, "Come Love, I will take you with me." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that she forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived on land the elder went on his way. Love realized how much she owed the elder. Love then found Knowledge and asked, "Who was it that helped me?" "It was Time", Knowledge answered. "But why did Time help me when no one else would?", Love asked. Knowledge smiled and with deep wisdom and sincerity, answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

  11. Ruma says:

    Hi Sweeti,
Billions of dollars are being spent on an annual basis, on turning desert land into a rich man’s luxury resort. Billions of dollars more are being spent on space research. It beats me why there are trillions of people the world over who are still living with out a roof over their heads, clean water to drink, and a decent life. Maybe humanity is slowly coming to an end. Feelings have died, and this can be seen in the rise of crime, violence and terrorism.
Hope you have been doing well….haven’t heard from you for ages.
    Love, Ruma.

  12. Lee says:

Thanks for stopping by and the kind words….nice to have ya.
I have thought about this issue many times…i believe the answer is it isnt a ‘sexy’ problem and there is no money to be made from it, so who is going to invest all that time and money into a non sexy issue?. Its freakin’ criminal…….
Be well and enjoy your day.

MJ, this is the reality we face every day and the news we hear every moment.
lots fo tragedies in this world not only result form Evirmormental or natural occurings, but also have deep roots with political mess.  what happend in  Ethiopia is just a example.
what can we do? many many anwers,
when  and how can the solutione be implemented?
    now body knows.
but if every one in this world is as kind as you, this world should be different as it is now.
    have a wonderful weekend.

    the contradicting facts!!
life doesnt seem to treat everyone with eqality…
remined of a saying, ‘the world has everything for evreyone’s need, but not for everyone’s greed!’
however…i feel….looking around in our respective countries
we come across, men, women, children…all in need of help of all sorts…
maybe doing a little to these will in tourn make a differnce…
    nice day to you sweets

yup, the way the world works really sucks…

  20. Yours Truly says:

    Hi  Sweeti,
I does seem like a simple and manageable problem that could be solved if the talent and energy of just a few were dedicated to it and everyone else cooperated.  But everyone’s too busy writing comments and watching television.  Thanks for writing about something significant.

  21. Mr. Charlee Preston says:

  23. Savannah-Joan says:

hey Sweeti, what’s been happeneing? any crap weather… any parites? (went to a sixteenth the other night and had a few too many :S felt slightly hungover after wards shhh…)

  24. Marina says:

Interesting is the fact that we don’t need to make 20 million a year to be able to help those kids, if we all donate as much as we can (and most of us can) there would be a big difference already. But we always wait for somebody very wealthy to kick in and help, while doing nothing ourselves… most of the time at least.

  25. freckles says:

couldn’t us ‘the world’ help more..what would it cost to each of us -if we could ge someone to build enough pipelines and give them enough water?
