End of a Civil war???

surrender is not cowardly

surrender is courageous when u sacrifice your goals for the lives

TX Buddy

The end of Sri Lanka’s 25-year civil war has been much predicted in recent months – not least by the government – but it seems the conflict may now finally be drawing to a close. The Sri Lankan army is now in control of the north and it’s unlikely that Tamil Tiger leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran could escape at this late juncture. The government of President Mahinda Rajapaksa will want to capture the last vestiges of rebel territory as quickly as possible. But the rebels have proved on innumerable occasions that they have the capacity to strike at targets – often civilian ones – all over Sri Lanka. Around 70,000  cicilians have fled LTTE areas since January.  Now we are afraid for more deaths, and  the continuing  bloodshed, coz this cant stop without more pain. My friend pety wrote this poem abt the fight for a piece of land..

A call for peace

The grass of the land tainted red
   Endless struggle innocent blood
Cry of sorrow in the wind
   Shattered death their heart sinned

Inch of land a battles cause
pained death a loved ones loss
bullets and bombs weapons to fight
   Bodies burn in pyre bright

   Machine guns in  children’s arm
   revenge a fire burning strong
Oh what would make them go
Soon their lives be laid low

Heroes of tis world found in grave
Tears of loved ones remain for the brave
Courage is it for the life to take
A heroes deed a peace to make

I seek thee to lay thy arms down
No more innocent in blood to drown
With death the crown of freedom won
Would joy return to the loved ones gone?

Hi sweetiMy thoughts and prayers are with the innocent civilians — women and children — caught in the middle of the conflictI hope and pray that both sides will allow their evacuation so as to avoid a bloodbath.I also wish you a very Happy Earth Dayhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/mystafied/ug0345e4.gifGarry xox

Capture of land never ends a war. It can only end when the heart of the enemy is won over. Sri Lanka has some way to go before they ensure peace with the Tamils. Democracy can help and hopefully that is effectively utilized. May peace prevail soon!

  4. charming says:

Hi MI’m back. We are proud of our forces. They defeated terrorism from our motherland. Now tamils too can enjoy democracy. The enemy of our democracy was prabakaran and his blood thursty tigers. They will be add to history very soon by our brave forces:)

Civil or cold wars are really big immorality than hot wars. As for my opinion, hot wars are more "rightly". I surely know how is cold war. I am living for 30 years in it. This life is for live and some politic immoralities are stealing our lives. Hope those Sri Lankan civilians can go their lives in peace.

Underground walkways are a necessity in some of the northern cities in US and Canada so folks can continue leading a normal life when it’s below freezing and all snowed up outside. In Seattle, it was not there in all places but just downtown and mornings are when it was the busiest. It was kept closed at night, possibly to prevent vandalism.

it is really terrible to see the pictures in every news daily. I literally cry.how they do the killing of thousands of innocent people without a slightest guilt.. :((tc

  12. Jorge says:

Sadly, all wars have the same themes: fallen heroes remain dead, civilians caught between warring factions suffer the highest casualties, and no one learns that the war never provides a solution – only the seeds of the next conflict. be well,J.
