Selfish or not?

In the Netherlands a 63 year old woman gave birth to a baby girl Meagan

Beside Congratulations the new mom got a lot of critical remarks.

She got pregnant after an egg donation carried out by the Italian controversial dr. Severino Antinori.

The Dutch woman had to go to Italy…In the Netherlands same as in Belgium the age limit is 45 for fertility treatment .

When the girl goes to school…mom will be 70.

A child wish..  hmm

In 2008 a Spanish woman ( 66 when she got twince) died 2 years after the birth of her babies.

My opinion?  The Italian dr. has to stop this unnatural actions.

Whats urs?

This is a difficult one Sweeti, but I have to say I think Nature has it right, your parents should be young or young enough to be there for you, barring accidents of death of course, as no-one can foresee those. A child has the right to not have to worry about older parents surely? I feel it is selfish on the part of the older parent to have fertility treatment. Surely the money used should go to investigating cures for diseases? IN order to help people already alive and not create new life where none would have been possible, in this overpopulated World? xPenx

I agree, that’s completely irresponsible. That’s another example of the fact that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

    Hi hun! 🙂

Yes, this Doctor is fiddling with nature and nothing good will come of it!!!

Ironic he lives in a Catholic country, yet acts with impunity…

    Love and hugs!

Living in Italy doesnot mean there is no mess?
And cos of the fact the Pope lives there.
what abt other things there like Berlusconi and the Maffia??
      have a peacefull weekend Prenin.

      • prenin says:

        Oh I agree!

No matter where in the world this doctor is based, the concept is still fundamentally wrong in so many ways!!!

The Pope may live there, but he has no power over Italy, apart from its millions of Catholics, and his blind arrogance has helped the spread of AIDS by not allowing the use of condoms – how many are now dying because of Dogma???

Berlusconi has finally reached the end of the rope he wove himself – I can’t wait for the hanging!!!

        As for the Mafia?

We here in the UK have a wide selection of criminal gangs from across the world – recently there was a street battle between two Chinese gangs here in Manchester, but little got in the press – so I guess we’ve got the Mafia here too!

Hope you have a great weekend too hun!

        Love and hugs!

      • chicasl10 says:

Oh Prenin when those gangs fight out wars .Police
have to stay away So the problem will be solved
They kill each other. so No probs anymore lol

  4. Androgoth says:

Yes the act of playing God has gone much too far, these scientists are making a mockery of human nature, it is quite unreal for a woman of that age to be giving birth and is ideed cruel to leave the baby without a long term parent… I can relate to women who cannot have children having these donated eggs, but it has to be within a realistic age bracket or it just becomes a freak show… I hope that my comment is not too blunt for your Space Sweeti but this is a serious matter I think?

Thank you for adding this one my great friend and do have a lovely weekend…

I love ur comment Andro Cos i agree for 200%.
Its the truth. This act is one of I WANT and there was a dr who said..I DO
      all for the money Andro
      as i said before
where was her childwish between 20 and 62??
and when ur without kids like me and my hubby …there are so many to love on this earth.
I wish u and ur lady a wonderful weekend with love and peace

  5. This begs so many questions , religious and medical ethical in conjunction with societies needs, personally I find it offensive and against the natural ways of human life.

  6. Ajit says:

A wish to have a child is in everyones heart
but that which is away from nature and created by human hand is never perfect and that leads to problems
that which alters the natural process alters the whole concept of living balance
oh does not nature teach us or is it people think we are above nature
Author haley in a book strong medicine quotes
perfection is a goal dimly perceived yet rarely attained

not by the genius of human mind but to let nature take her way gives a better and peacefull way of living

      it is Buddy
Nature is sometimes also hard to bear. But life goes on and we change our ways
Dreams will stay but common sense is also a part of that.
u cant chase ghosts. Accept and go on
Good luck buddy with ur busy

  7. Selfish and irresponsible yes….but what if it was one of us? If a woman spends a whole lifetime longing for a child and the science is there to make it happen…. also if nature allows a pregnancy to occur in spite of the man-made means that have opened the possiblity of it, is it still wrong that a woman of an older age should conceive? Is nature wrong too? Or is man in the realms of God that he/she can cause conception rather than merely enhancing the possibilites for it’s occurrance?

    • chicasl10 says:

      Hi Wolfy
this dr. takes over from God and nature..
if things dont happen in life Then there will be a time that u accept and go on..
imagine World would be more crazy as is it already.

  8. timkeen40 says:

This one is hard. I agree.
But what are we arguing about?
If the women is 30 and can’t have children without help from science, then no one cares, right?
Because being 30 ensures that you will live to see that your kids live until they are grown, right?
But if you are 40 or 50 or 60 and need help to have a child, then it must be wrong. It must be selfish, right?
I don’t know the answer to this question. I currently have all the children that I plan to have.
I guess to answer this question I would have to be sixty and want to have more.
Then I would have to weigh my needs against what other people thought about my needs.

    • chicasl10 says:

Ur a lucky man my friend. And indeed when u have a dream U go for it.
but its all abt the fact that dr. goes that far only for money.
and the fact that the lady had no child wish between 20 or 62??
      oke everyone has a right..
But why is my colleague her daughter ( now 41) busy for 15 years to get a child adopted? And belief me She and her hubby would love to help an orphan child
and she has no right to IVF anymore? cos they tried ??times?
The world is upside down .

      I wish u a wonderful sunday

  9. michiko san says:

Sorry I’m totally disagree with her selfishly attitude, poor child without mum fro how many years???
By low if you wanted adopt child then the parents are not old age?
    Crazy world!

      and hole 19 LOL?
tx Michiko san Have a wonderful sunday

  10. Seth@ChaosHQ's says:

Agreed, there comes a time/an age when it should be considered a bit too late to start having children. After all, as we all know the very young take a lot of chasing around after, literally when they are small. A small person can travel a great distance in a short space of time if your reactions are not there. Then you have the issues when the go through their teens being able to keep up with them (and their pubescent temper tantrums- notwithstanding the infant ones!) in terms of the need to be transported from one place to another. Fianlly you have the issue of you getting old and the requirement for the child to perhaps look after you. I know that people are living longer, but that in itself raises issues.

When mother nature says no because of a woman getting up there in her later years, etc… so should the doctors/clinics! But that’s just my opinion.

  11. chicasl10 says:

    I agree with u Seth
That dr.takes over mother nature and where does it lead to??
the world will kill itself. No limits for nothing.
be well and enjoy this week
